so, here’s one I found, in my price range, some obverse damage…. Your thoughts?

I'm gonna guess it's an AU coin ?

Assuming it's not a reflection or the plastic, there appears to be a skull fracture on Miss Liberty. :D Fields have bag marks, appears to be some rub on high points.

AU-53 or 55 and basically should sell for bullion spot IMO.

If I had to guess would say A/U 50 are possibly a 53 at best with what appears to
be a dig on the head on the obverse, other then that some high point scuffs so nothing to serious :)

Above coin looks about 62-63 to me. I don't think it would sell for much of a premium.

I'm far from a grading expert, but I can't see that getting any MS grade.

Maybe the experts can chime in.

The ding on the face would put this outside the realm of an M/S grade
but I have seen pretty beat up 60,s
and 61,s but those are mostly just
    scratched but still unappealing.

I will try and get a picture of the grade in the holder later on. I think you’ll be surprised

I believe it's a nice MS63, but can show you MS66 graded coins on prominent sites currently, that aren't as nice.

    JMHO

I don't know where you derived your fantasy grading and purchase prices, but please PM me when you locate a certified coin meeting that standard, and haven't an interest.

I've an open order to buy from dealers visiting the major shows, any certified in accordance with the only standard that could meet an objective jury verdict of the 1977 illustrated A.N.A. standard for pre-1933 U.S. Gold coins.

    None Found meeting C.D.N. pricing!

It has allot to do with the TPG as well
depending on who slabbed it, I am more
of an appearance guy not so much the
grade but most of the tine they go hand in hand, i said most…LOL

You don't need a picture, you can just tell us. Whatever is easier.

I think the coin shows wear, has a facial gash, lots of bagmarks.

    MS-63 ? Can't see it. Low-60's...MAYBE. I think it's an AU coin with the wear/gash.
That's a TOUGHER standard than today's market grading and you sill think that's a coin that looks better than MS-66's ?? :wideyed:

FWIW, I have an MS-65 1924 Saint and it's much cleaner. It's an AVERAGE MS-65.

That's why I can't see how this could only be 2 grades lower.
