I'm not crossing anything. One day the old holders with the old beans will be a desirable as rattlers and fattys are now. Not spending the money to cross anything. I already paid to grade the stuff.
If they had done some crazy innovative slab people would just complain about that too. Funny how people complain about labels and colored slabs yet when a company does a simplistic PCGS style slab they complain about that too. I get that some will complain no matter what CAC does, but I’ve long believed the real hobby of coin collecting is complaining lol.
I must say, the most innovative part here is the one where they rotate the coin 180 degrees when you turn the slab over. This is horrible editing from whoever made it
Does anyone know what the chances of a non-member getting coins stickered is now? I had been meaning to send some in for months via a dealer and now this turn of events. I guess I may have to call the shop and see if they're willing to do it or not.
My first reaction was that it looked like an NTC slab, but I think this is because they're transparent (assuming the fact that Beanman is clearly visible through the slabs) and they unfortunately chose an NTC color for the background of the ad. Other observations: The font used for the date/grade might not be the most legible from a distance. ICG has a big problem with legibility on slabs because of a thick font on a background with a pattern. It also needs to be a font that supports Greek and Cyrillic character sets if they're going to do world coins correctly. The use of all-caps with a script font outside the context of a monogram is a typographic crime -- or at least something that annoys me. They supposedly fit in both PCGS and NGC boxes with the lid closed, which is a good thing. The back looks like it'll accommodate my attribution stickers, another good thing. I can't tell from the pictures if the lens is protected from being scratched by tabletops, glass cases, or other slabs. I also can't tell if they stack with PCGS or NGC slabs, although it looks like they might be designed to stack with PCGS. I imagine the first samples will be available from China about when the real ones start hitting the market, if not sooner. Can't tell from the photos how easy they'll be to crack open.
