Coins are like my Kids, and What would you do?

So while Ebay coin shopping I see one I like. I will also mention I used to be an avid Cherry picker. Here’s the coin I bought listed raw.

The coin arrived in yesterday’s mail and I’d grabbed my coffee and opened her up. Upon casual glance it didn’t look right and because my eyes are getting old I grabbed my loupe. Hmmm, the seller sent me a different coin, and not the coin listed. Now, perhaps this was a simple mistake. I then sent the seller a message, letting them know the wrong coin was shipped and I asked if they had the coin I purchased. As of today no response.
So while looking at the listing today it popped into my head. Hmmm, this kid looks good, not too good, but rather familiar. Then it hit me, this was “my” kid, I know this kid and she (yes my kids are all girls) was mine at one time. I’d found this kid, graded and attributed this kid, and put her up for adoption (I sold her). Keep in mind, I know this kid and she’s burned into my memory. (Yes, I’m burdened with Photographic memory)
I then proceeded to retrace my relationship with her, starting from the beginning. I next proceeded over to PCGS Coin Facts and after a bit of scrolling, there she was:

So what exactly is going on here? 1) Seller went to Coin Facts and lifted the images. 2) Seller then circle cropped the images. 3) Seller then lists the coin for sale as the actual coin for purchase…and finally 4) Seller ships me a different coin.

And Jordan fades to the left, takes the shot and Bam, game over.
So at this point seller has not responded and I’m wondering what y’all’s would do?

How many days has it been since you contacted the seller? I would give the seller 3 days to respond (life happens).

If your seller still hasn't responded, you can return the item. Ebay will issue a full refund. Just select "Item doesn't match description or photos" or "Received wrong item" and you should have no problems.

Maybe you guys are missing the point. I don’t have to wait for a response. The seller pulled a bait and switch, swiping the images from coin facts, listing it as the actual coin for sale (which is impossible) then sending me a random coin.

Why is it impossible that the seller would have that particular coin for sale? You said you sold it, so it could be in his inventory. He may have sent you the wrong coin by accident. True, he may have switched it, but I don't necessarily jump to ill-intent. He's been selling for over a decade and has a 100% positive rating - sellers like that don't like to jeopardize their rating for no good reason.

Is the one you received in a PCGS slab?

And if you had such perfect photographic memory, why did you repurchase the coin you'd already sold?

I didn’t say my memory is perfect, I used to box, been punched in the face a few hundred times…

No it was not in it’s PCGS holder, raw as shown in the listing, and I received a different coin, also raw.

I bought it raw years ago, had it graded and attributed by PCGS, and made IIRC a decent return when pops were low.
So you think the current seller bought it in the PCGS slab, cracked it out to sell raw at a fraction of it’s actual value, for a coin currently in an active registry set? Or maybe someone else, just so happened to crack it out of its PCGS holder, a graded and attributed variety, then sell it to this guy, that just so happens to list it raw, then mistakenly sends me a different coin, and somehow, it’s also in an active registry set? Well, I suppose that is possible, you got me there. D1FA7BE5-C2D7-42E2-826C-C8CE86F8A4A4.png

Hey man, I'm just asking questions. You never mentioned it was in an active set.

I agree I didn’t…but it was listed raw as I showed above, and I also included its true view and cert #.

Physics-fan3.14 I know you’re a smart guy, and you really had me thinking maybe somehow this could been a simple mistake…

So I gave it some more thought…
Here’s a raw coin sold by this same seller recently, $35 bucks. Look at the image. I’d have bought it, great image right?
    FA889BC2-EFDB-4F81-BDC2-D136AA5A1515.png

Now, look at this image, and I know you can likely see way better than me. As for memory skills, I’d say I’d win despite my blows to the head… 526A1365-BE13-4DFB-AEC2-5EFDD7E51E49.png

So the coin in the TrueView copied by this seller, used as actual coin, and sold raw for $35. In fact the coin in the True View price guide is $1,100.

I just don't like to assume the worst until I have enough reason to do so. I know that I, as a seller, have absolutely messed up and sent the wrong coin to the wrong person. Until proven otherwise, I like to assume it's an honest mistake.

I have to admit, though, the evidence is starting to stack against the guy.

Give him a couple of more days. If he's still acting like a possum, return the coin, get your money back, then take it up with eBay. If they don't do anything about him file a writ cert within 90 days to the United States Supreme Court.

Apply to eBay for a refund. Don’t return the coin unless instructed to do so by eBay and get tracking.

Ok Eddie admit it, you’ve never passed a bar. I don’t care about the money, but I don’t like being duped by the unscrupulous. I’m done with exposure but will just add it gets worse and sloppier the more I look through his sold listings.

Take it up with eBay. Where are you getting on it here but defaming the kid? I'll reserve comment on whether I passed a bar, that's not anybody's business.

Thanks Eddie. I’ve passed a bar in my day, and it’s not defamatory if it’s true. It doesn’t take much of a look before the sloppy kicks in, ie leaving prongs on the crops, etc. I guess I just found things perhaps more humorous as I once made and owned the exact coin.

Well then thank you, too, I was getting worried about you there for a minute. :D But definitely, I got good eyesight, I see where you're at on this. I'd be making the case to eBay if this happened to me. This is pretty clearly tricking his customers right on their platform, and I'd remind them of that, too.
