1999 Canada Millennium Millenaire Set

This is a complete set as in the title. I’ve had this 1999, when it was introduced. 13 coins mounted in a cardboard display. The back side has a piece that folds out to stand the display upright. It also tells a little about each coin in both English and French.

This Is Canada-depicts the richness of Canada. The wheels of industry gear has 13 teeth, one for each province and territory.

 

The airplane opens the North. Salutes the bush plane which gave access to the northern territories.

 

A tribute to First Nations. The Eagle, bear and killer whale depict land, water and sky.

 

Canada Through A Child’s Eye. The 3 people holding hands is for a United Canada.

 

The pioneer spirit. Reflects the spirit of the people that gave from all over to build Canada.

 

A nation of people. 6 people drawn with one continuous line represents law and order, learning, teaching, the arts, the love of nature and sports.

 

Coast to Coast. Represents the joining of the country for the Atlantic to the Pacific.

 

The Voyagers. To honor those that set up the fur trade and travelled by canoe to open up the land.

 

Our Northern Heritage. A tribute to contemporary Canadian Inuit art.

 

The Log Dive. Reflects the courage of the raftsman to Canada’s development and prosperity.

 

Etched In Stone. Reflects the petroglyphs of a thousand years showing the country’s heritage and spirituality.

 

A Canadian Symbol. 13 small Maple Leafs represents one for each province and territory with 1 large one for unity.

Neat set, I've got the silver version.

1999 was a look back on Canada's history and the 2000 version looked to the future. I didn't get the 2000 set. That was around the time I got fatigued with all the RCM issues every year.

 

I didn’t get the 2000 set either. I also can’t recall ever seeing one.

 

Nice sets, but I, too, was tiring of some of the coins that the RCM was putting out. I could never figure out why 1999 was called millennium, unless it was the year before the year 2000.
