A nice looking Civil War Token that’s undated. It was minted in the 1861 to 1864 time frame. One side has a wreath around the rim with ARMY AND NAVY centered. At 6 o’clock are a pair of crossed swords under an anchor. The other side has 13 stars around the rim at the bottom with THE FEDERAL UNION around the rest of the edge. Centered is the rest of the phrase, IT MUST AND SHALL BE PRESERVED. It is on a copper planchet larger than a nickel but smaller than a quarter.
Had these before. Unfortunately my family supported the other side. Unfortunately there’s no avaible affordable coins of them other than the 61-0 halves of the w 13 I’ve had 2
Mine suffers from a known weak strike (A in Navy). I have some verdicare I have been thinking about soaking this one. I like it because it is in the Red Book! See top left token. Somewhere else I think I read that these Army and Navy CW tokens were from 1863, but I could be recalling incorrectly.
