Hey people, I recently pulled out my metal detector and I need some inspiration to go hunting! So can you people that metal detect, please post your coins and any other finds. I personally haven't struck it rich yet, only small change. What have YOU found?
I've found loads of different stuff... Any period coins and artifacts from Celtic to Victorian... Where abouts are you from? I watched a documentary the other night about a Anglo-Saxon gold hoard!
someone needs to post the link to the metal detecting find where a fellow found a small purse filled with 1800's halves quarters dimes & gold,my sould exploded as he pulled out piece by piece.it made me want to run outside with one.
This is one that will make you drool! Every metal detectorist's dream: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02fZZTtAHbk&feature=fvw
Not being a U.S. collector (someone on this site will be able to give a better value), I'd say considering the condition most of the coins would run in the $30 -$60 range according to the Red Book.
I've found a few silver quarters and dimes over they years but recently just common change. Worst part is digging down to find a beer bottle cap.
Here's one called the "Hansborough Ridge Coin Purse". I think this is the one Mad.Outcast was referring to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpYN1g4NBE8&feature=related
Thats the one,how awesome is that find.my hands would be shaking too. Those would be coins that would be buried with me.lol
Thats is a pretty nice amount of coins but you should look at the stuff thats been dug up in England. I was watching a program the other night where an Anglo Saxon hoard worth 3.7million pounds was found.
Got the statement from our detecting account today total funds in the account $861.88 Still have about $30 waiting to be rolled. Here are the keepers and the silver Purchased using the account over the last 2 years. When I was told the detector would pay itself off over 2 years I was thinking 'yeah right!' but in two years we have found enough to pay off both detectors and purchase better models should we so desire. I am not advocating metal detecting as a hobby as it seems we do way better than most (plus I don't want the competition) but it gets us out of the house and would seem to turn a tidy profit. started laughing when i saw the chucky cheese token. i had a detector when i was a kid. eventually the battery leads corroded from leaving it in the garage. i didnt find anything good but its fun. buying a decent one has been in the back of my mind.
That's wild how metal detector-heads save everything they find--batteries, pencils, nails--that's way cool. I want a metal detector.
