We have it direct from JA (from the CAC forum as quoted by @baseball21 earlier) that a coin not worthy of a CAC sticker at any grade is not going to get straight graded. That would be a major shift from current industry practice. Not only is it a lot “tougher”, but it would reduce a lot of coins that are currently “market acceptable” to details status. I don’t think a lot of collectors would be happy with that if it was applied across the whole industry.

Happy collectors is the goal, though, eventually.

Of course there will be $ pain. CAC has been alerting the collecting community for the entire 14 years of the existence of the Entity, to beware. Buy the coin.....we know the rest.

Another interesting twist from one of his answers yesterday

"Yes , we are planning on placing a physical Cac sticker on the insert for coins that were previously stickered. . It will of course be protected/encapsulated. JA "

I testified in a Federal Trade Commission Case and demonstrated to the judge that THERE ARE NO GRADING STANDARDS :jawdrop: and that is why the grades given by all the expert :bookworm::cigar: witnesses in the case WERE CORRECT  even though their grade opinions went from AU-58 to MS-65! o_O

So that would be how we differentiate which coins have been through 2 companies versus just one. Definitely useful.

I suggest you confine your opinions to numismatics as unfortunately, you don't seem to be very informed  about what is going on in the world around you. This is not a political forum so all I will say is You! have NO CHANCE :( to change it. ;)

Our economy is in a recession, and it is going to get very severe or become a depression. At this time the same thing and worse is going on throughout the world. I believe the coin market will suffer because most bullion is not graded. That's why I believe CAC should stay CAC for now and NOT start a new TPGS because that will put pressure on NGC and PCGS to remain as profitable as they must be now. What we don't want to end up with is just one or two TPGS.

It is a good idea on their part. I have a couple CAC I was planning on selling this winter, but I guess I will hang onto them for a bit and see how this plays out in the market. I wont send them just to send them, but if the market gives those a premium over a PCGS sticker I probably will.

Idk where it was said that c coins get details grades. Because right here it says "if a coin isn't sticker worthy or will wind up in a details holder, or a lower grade holder. It depends on the coin.

I've a huge pre-1933 collection of "sight-seen" (i.e. by myself and well-qualified buyer/dealers) CACed coins which I would like to submit for CAC encapsulated "grading".

Has it yet been determined whether CAC will accept these coins for grading consideration in their new slab, with a return "as received" option if the current TPG grade will be reduced?

I currently have my copy-righted sticker applied to returned un-CACed coins, but standards may have been changed.

Any pertinent information would be appreciated by myself and others!

It's my understanding that PCGS, NGC, and CAC's "Business Models" were all written by the same person.

There is a lot of talk about computer grading. When no 2 people can agree what "Mint State" actually is, who programs to software? Mint State, as the name applies, is the state or condition in which it leaves the mint, so, all would be a 70 when it leaves the door, but we all know they aren't. Who gets to decide what is and isn't for all the rest of the world to follow? Who gets the monopoly?

Any "new" grading service has the chance to simplify grading = if a coin is not MS don't put it into a Mint State slab. Grade the coin for its condition of preservation only! Its rarity, owner, history, desirability, and especially its value at the time it is graded do not belong in a grading room.

Unfortunately, it seems this is not going to happen anytime because that horse left the barn in the 1980's with "no trace of wear" in the saddle.

Decades of AU's in MS slabs at every TPGS are all over the place. Practically everyone in the business couldn't/didn't accept the fact that in some series of coins, finding one in original MS would be like catching a glimpse of Big Foot.

[EXACTLY] Mint State, as the name applies, is the state or condition in which it leaves the mint, so, all would be a 70 when it leaves the door, but we all know they aren't. [Exactly, however, MS coins get banged around at the mint so an MS grade for a business strike EVER is a myth] Who gets to decide what is and isn't for all the rest of the world to follow? Who gets the monopoly? I've said this before. Any knowledgeable numismatist - I'll pick JA since this thread is about his next creation - who is pinned down, off the record (No Net Graders) and one-on-one with their equal under the best viewing conditions will probably pick a grade that cannot be disputed UNTIL they must account for strike, value, rarity, and eye appeal.

It is a "technical/commercial" quandary. An MS-66 gem and an MS-66 flatly struck gem are in the exact same condition as made at the Mint. They are described perfectly yet one is worth far more money.

I've had a CAC collector account allowed by JA for many years.

Because of several "identity theft" incident where criminals have been attempting to plant a "trojan" to access/control my computer, I can't open unapproved links to sites.

We have imprisoned 3 criminals who violated my rights, but I receive ~30-50 links suggestions as yours per day, which are deleted.

If you want to send me a PM with your address, I'll forward these supposedly useful resources to you.

Thanks for your "link", but a simple answer to my posted question would have been useful/preferred!

Thanks for your consideration, but as a "collector" member of CAC, I've already received this useless notice today, knowing that a "sign-in" may result in receipt of more trash: https://www.caccoin.com/forums/disc...y-announcement-faq-question-submission#latest

I'll just submit my allowed 20 coins when the Grading service is accessible.

I'll include an evaluation request to John, to possibly evaluate/bill for "cross-over" without current grade reduction, un-opening the submitted slabs, returning if impractical.

    JMHO
