I came across a 2017 $20 that looks unaligned. I can see the edge of another bill on the front left side, but not on the back. Worth hanging onto, or send her back to circulation??
I'm not a paper-money person, but the threshold for unaligned bills does seem to be having part of the design run off the edge. Certainly at least hang onto it until the paper collectors here weigh in. Welcome to CoinTalk!
Hello and Welcome! Not enough to be desirable by collectors. Looks more like a cutting mistake. I mean it looks it came off a sheet and was cut uneven. Just my opinion.
Looks like a nice misaligned cut to me,yes keep it.Condition wise that's pretty nice for a circ find.only a few minor folds,it could be uncirculated. As of value for now I'm going to say $30+ should you get it certified?I'd say no as these are pretty common despite condition. @SteveInTampa.
Thanks everyone! I work at a bank so I come across all kinds of stuff... but this was a first for me.
Well then, keep your eye out for silver coins too. We expect to be hearing from you in the future. This looks like a minor cutting error to me. If so, it’s not enough to big big money but it should be worth more than face value. Welcome to CT.
Someone brought it in to show us. It was all sealed up in a plastic container. I've been complaining to our coin collectors that I've never seen that, a $500 bill or a $1000 bill ☺️
That was very nice of your customer to do that. The plastic was probably a slab, meaning it was graded on a scale of 01 through 70. Me thinks you have lots to learn but if you stick around here, you’ll learn.
@AmberHunolt Welcome to CT and nice circulation find. That note will certainly sell for more than face. And since your cost was face you have a nice keeper. I would definitely purchase some archival note holders (PVC free) to keep your note and future currency finds safe and protected from further deterioration. One recommendation, with all the money that floats through a bank, you can become completely consumed by checking everything that passes through your hands. It'll be tough but you need to resist the urge to examine every note and coin that you touch or your productivity can suffer greatly. Wouldn't want to get yourself fired for not doing your job. That would certainly end your ability to see the volume of currency and coins going forward Good luck and ask a lot of questions here. We're not always cheerful, but you'll get great advice and answers to your Q's.
