I won this auction late last week. It looked like a pretty good type coin for my 7070. Since the seller was in Gardena I got the coin the next day and I'm pretty happy with it.

Nice strike, subtle tones, maybe a hint of wear on the buffalo. All in all I think it was a good buy and a happy addition to the type set.

I'm not one to find American coinage attractive , particularly buffalo nickles but I have to admit that the toning on this one makes it look good. Congratz dude...

Congratulations -- that's a nice pickup. Are you doing your 7070 with all toned coins?

Excellent coin. Majority of relief is still sharp, great toning, good bargain at that price too.

Nice price for that coin. It looks good. Your pics are a lot better than the auction pics.

    Thanks

No, just coins of various grades that I think look nice that are relatively affordable.

Have you ever seen those very little coin protective holders? they just fit the coin to the exact T.You might want to get one,My only concern is that if you put that in a dansco, the toning on it may be disrupted,it may tone it in a negative way.If you like it the way it is,which I personally do.I wouldnt want to do anything to make it change. If you use one of those protectors,it should stop the dansco from forcing it to continue to tone.Just a tid bit.

    Are you referring to cointains?

Toning isn't too much of a concern for me in this southern California climate.

Well it looks if you have "maybe" taken advice from others about photo taking. The only reason I bring this up is,although they are nice photos, from my experience, they do not do the coin justice in hand.I dont believe they represent the true "beauty" of the coin. The toning on this coin is much more vibrant in hand.it is a possibility it was already in a dansco at one time.if this is case.putting it back into one,it will continue to tone, even if in so. Cali .Dansco's create some beauty's,but it will also start to damage the coin, from "over exposure".I just wouldnt want your beauty to be "well done" in the dansco.better safe than sorry?

With all due respect, how could you possibly know this? As I mentioned in the original post, the toning is more subtle. The photos are a pretty accurate representation, much more so than the seller's eBay photos.

I know that process of that photography. And like you stated,it is a "pretty" accurate depiction. If it had a PCGS true view it would be about 90% accuracy of a photograph.

My mother is an artist, and has been my whole life.I mixed custom paint from scratch for cars.including pearls, metallics & house of colors "candy"for years.I also painted cars, motorcycles, and I did tattoos for 5 years.I have an accurate depiction of color.plus I have been in photography for 10+ years.with 4 of them in coins.

Im not saying it is a bad photo,by no means.I just personally know in hand in alternate types of lighting.that coin glows. And it is ultra difficult to capture the real essence of a coin.

This process going around, to take photos works pretty well, but it doesnt do the coins the justice they deserve.when you look at a coin, you dont just look at the coin "straight" on.and straight on photos,no matter how expensive the camera, cannot catch all the color.straight on photos lose depth in the exposure of lighting.

I just dont want to see your coin turn for the negative, coins are metal, anytime you move metal from one environment to another, there is a "chemical" disturbance.Over time. it may go south.thats why I suggested the protectors.

OK, I'll make more of an effort to capture the coin's essence. Thanks for the suggestion.

I think I'm OK for the time being. But will coins in Cointains even fit in the Dansco book? They're a tight enough squeeze as it is.

Love the Type 1 Buffalos. I think there is very little rub here (back hip of the Buffalo) and would likely grade AU58. Great looking toning for the coin -- enjoy it.

Superb coin. Looks like a MS 64/65 to me. A fine addition to a Dansco type set.

Superb photo as well -- with Darkhorse's photog skills a Trueview would be a waste of money. ;)
