I believe what you are seeing there is some engraving done to the working hub. You will see this from time-to-time on earlier dates. As the hubs wore, they would sharpen the details to help contrast features when pressed into the working dies.
You need to edit your post asap or you're going to be getting spam and not in a can till the pigs come home. Not a smart idea to put your information posted for the world to see. The only new discovery your going to find is everyone and their mother calling and emailing you.
I don't know about variety or error things, but I certainly wouldn't put my phone number and email on a post. Normal people here wouldn't do anything, but there's a lot of bots, as with any forum website, so best remove those asap
From those images I dont know how anything could be determined. The coin need be imaged Obv.& Rev. In full ... one cant look at a mouth or feather and tell anything. Sorry but it maybe a retooled die...or it could be a tooled coin.
Personally. Ditch the microscope and get a loupe for viewing and cellphone for taking pics .That make sense ?
I see this effect after doing the 50/50 mix of vinegar and hydrogen peroxide. Usually enhances the 'groove'. It could be MD as well...but without full photos I can only speculate. Either way, the overmagnification creates the 'delusions' of this or that as a cause...or as a variety.
And yes I agree the thumbnail would even stay open for me. I wish there was a thread that newbies had to open read and understand howvthings work before they could post. Im quite sure it would cut down on the traffic of stupid questions and educate a newbie what they need know to post. Esspecially posting you information in the main forum. In todays world ...the last thing one needs is to get hacked.... and of course its never their fault and wanting to blame others for their mistakes. I do believe that if newbies had to pass an entrance post before they could post in the main forum it would stop senseless post...and any future combating action or post on the site. And no not trying to say we need be exclusive but they dont read the rules. And when told something that's 100% correct they want to fight you and stir it up.
I've always been a curious person, so I never minded doing the research. And it's a large part of the work that I do. But not everyone is as boring as me, so they shoot from the hip quickly. I try not to let that be a concern...and I'm usually successful. In another forum, one member took the steps to create a free CD for newbies who were serious about learning. I thought that was pretty amazing...time, effort, and expense not reimbursed. It covered the learning curve to a degree, but as you know, once you start this journey it is pretty much limitless. I suppose that it takes a degree of patience and the availability of time. Those aren't limitless for most members, so it takes a village...or a large community of coin enthusiasts.
