I would like your opinion on this coin. I know it has wear but I’m not seeing any displaced metal. I thought it could have been worn down. Then again it would only have about 25 years in circulation after it was minted. Silver disappeared quickly in 1965 so I’m still allowing a few more years. That’s not enough time to wear those high, sharp displaced metal ridges. It would be the strangest strike through that I think I’ve ever seen. The grooves are so evenly spaced. The highest and lowest grooves are hard to see but they are seen in hand with a magnifying glass. And yes, there is a little wear on top of them. Please don’t take a glance and say what it appears like but take a moment to really look at this coin. Then try to think what could have caused this before posting a response. Thank you.
I believe it's PMD. Something pressed/squeezed the obverse leaving those marks. You can see the corresponding flattening of the fasces on the reverse.
Much though I want it to be "struck through pocket comb", I'm with @Oldhoopster -- I see what looks like flattening on the reverse.
Don't forget in IGWT, something goes around the G in GOD but doesn't affect the G you can see it's pushed metal of the top of US of trust from left to right. that can't happen in the die.
