I went thought this $100 face value bag last night. Not a single dime. Mostly Washington Quarters and a few Walking Liberty Halves. That was it.

Today I found another $100 face of junk silver. Just over $50 in 1964 Kennedy Halves, about $20 in Roosevelt Dimes, 4 Mercury Dimes and the rest was Washington Quarters.

Look good to me! I could never understand the term "Junk Silver". How about undesirable Silver instead?

I know but that’s what they called it years ago. My LCS knows the term but I’ve run into other dealers that don’t have a clue what I’m saying. They call it something else and I can’t remember what they call it. I do know that the junk silver you can buy today does not have dates and mint marks like I have in my small horde. Lol

No, I didn’t want to spend that much time as I was looking for a few certain common dates, which I didn’t find.

So, now we have gone from boxes to bags. What will be next after the bags? I read somewhere on the internet not too long ago many of these junk silver bags have passed from owner to another for over 20 years.

Nope, the bags were in separate boxes and I’ve never sold a single bag. I just don’t open them for 20 years. Lol

I know this not true, but we have seen so many of these found coins in boxes and bags I'm starting to feel they belong to all of us on coin talk. Not in a monetery sense, just the coins themselves. You may remain the caretaker of our coins. I have really enjoyed the box and bag series you have posted. You may want to consider a tv series.

Oh no TV for me. I don’t even own a TV.

I love running through a bag of "junk silver" or "culls".
I have put together six partial "junk" dime albums. One for each grandkid.

The most valuable dime I ever found was an AG 3, 1916 D. It was worth $300 back then, about $1000 now.

In "Prepper" terms, Junk Silver or cull coins are bought for the purpose of holding silver for trade or investment. For prepper purpose, coins should be bought by weight due to wear on the coins, which can drastically knock the silver content.

Silver dimes are preferred when prepping for a disaster. War nickels may be even better but expensive and harder to get. The theory is: If you have to trade a coin for food, the trader will not have change for a quarter or larger coin.

Everyone should prep for another sun flair like the 1869 Carrington Event. Computers, automobiles, and other electrical stuff in the affected area will be fried. No open banks, no food checkout scanners, no credit card charges, etc.

I know, too much un-asked for info. If coin blogs are a dime a dozen, prepper blogs are a dime a baker's dozen. Coin blogs are more interesting but don't discount the other as a total waste of valuable internet time.

The idea is that PMs will hold their value, not that they'll skyrocket in actual value. A loaf of bread on sale for $3.50 now might be tagged at $35 or $3500, but it'd still be worth about a silver quarter, and vice-versa.

Gold might not be convenient for my normal grocery shopping (I tend to make more frequent and smaller stops), but silver change would be just right in general. But that's not why I hoard silver and gold -- I hoard because I'm a hoarder, and that's what I do.
