I got the first Queen’s Beasts series but I’m not biting on the 2nd set. However I did want a 2023 coin with QE2 on it as the last possible date(I assume). Top pic I borrowed from the web because I just couldn’t get a decent pic of my own.
Nothing amazing but did end up with lots of pure nickel coins (mostly canadian 5 cents and Dutch) and canadian small cents (ranging 1920-2000s). I think I was successful because I was mainly looking for the pure nickel coins, so I'm happy.
I could see a few African coins which is something I look for. Did you order these online or buy them locally? And what do you plan to do with all the nickel?
I bought it literally local to you and me. There was some African stuff, but nothing that really was interesting enough for me and I've just resold the leftovers to a dealer today for about the $/lbs I paid yesterday. I have an inkling that pure nickel coinage will/may have not insignificant resale value in the future (maybe even during my lifetime ). So, I'm just hoarding it when I can get it for 'melt' value or less and a fun diversion. EDIT: also there was a bunch of nickel French 2 francs, francs and 1/2 francs.
Here is another very interesting coin. A 1/2 Speciesdaler of Norway/Sweden under Carl XIV, a Former General under Napoleon and Grandseigneur of the Bernadottes.
I just picked this one up. Looks better than my picture, though I do think it's quite possibly overgraded a bit.
I have a number of similar pieces to this one. Modern restrikes made in 1970's thru the 1990's. Just picked this one up from Karl Stephens. It's an inexpensive way to purchase coins that would be very expensive if they were the originals. Germany-Cologne 1975 modern re-strike of a 1705 extremely rare original silver medallic City View Taler, as Davenport 2183, as KM402
I also got this 1914A Mark for nine bucks. I realize the picture would be better if it's not in the 2x2 but you get the idea. I really like it, I thought it was really cool even though I don't have any coins it could fit in with.
