I mentioned before in another thread that the RCM Tyee coin would be a good gift for my brother/best man. For my other groomsman, not really a coin fan and more of a Bucs fan (for some reason), I bought this PSA/DNA certified autograph of Dexter Jackson. That left me looking for a final gift for my other groomsman. I know he's a big fan of TR. I saw this on eBay this morning and, perhaps hastily, hit the BIN button. It looked nice, I may take some olive oil and clean some gunk out of some crevices of the obverse but it looks good. Can anyone tell me about this medal? From what I can glean online it's an official mint product, but not an official inaugural medal, right?
Can't say much about the medal, but The Man was one of the greatest Presidents this country has ever had (if not the greatest). You "pulled the trigger" on this e-bay item and I envy you. If I'd had a chance I would have done the same.....:smile
Here is a link to the inagural medals of the presidents http://inauguralmedals.com/Inaugurals/T_Roosevelt/1905d.html The one you have is a mint product and not an official medal, but it is a bit older. It is from the United States Presidential medal series, stock medal #125, second term. It should be 76 mm and is high relief bronze obv designed by Charles Barber and rev by george Morgan. If is is the 1 5/16 size coin then it is medal #725
I'm tempted to keep it but I know the recipient will love this. I only wish they chose Barber's obverse for the America the Beautiful quarters.
This was a challenge to photograph because my usual lights were much too strong for the high relief and the glossiness of the medal. Luckily I had some basic desk lamps in reserve which did nicely.
