The Wide AM on business strike coins stopped after 1993 (well should have) but some 1998, 1999 & 2000 Cents have the wide A M in stead of the close AM. The wide AM's are used on the 1994 forward proof Cents. (well most of the time) except for the 1998, 1999 & 2000) But it happens at out mint. http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/coop49/2000_plain_wide_AM___Proof_Kurt_Story.jpg http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/coop49/1998_wide-close_AM_s_Ed_s_images_redo2.jpg
Still going through my 15h box of pennies since I started searching, hoping in these last few roles i might find one....:headbang: Regards, Stan
Aw nice! I still haven't found one of these in the wild. And after many boxes of trying have come up empty-handed. And it makes it even more difficult for me because I'm in California, so most of the circulated coins that I see are Denver/SF minted. Even the 1992 D is a challenge because it is one of the hardest to find. -LTB
Anyone know what the value would be in this condition? I've read there are only 350 of these in existence. Are they that rare? Seems like a low number to me. Thanks, JasonB
Graded! I got the coin graded by ANACS. They just sent me the shipping notification. It's graded MS-62! Yahooo!
I found one of these in a jar of change at the house with my son. We were pumped but when we turned the coin over it appeared that someone had taken a nail and completed gouged the obverse of the coin....what a disappointment.
Congrats! These are scarce and very difficult to find seaching. Once again this coin proves my point that NONE of the big TPG's can grade Memorial cents worth a crap. IMO the posted coin is an AU-50 at best. It has obvious signs of circulation wear. You should be happy with that slab. I've found two 99 WAM's so far in my life. One I graded at MS-63/64RD and it came back NGC MS-65RD. I sold it for $550. The second one I have not sent out yet, but I graded it MS-62 so I suspect a TPG will give it a 63/64.
