I am not fully sure as the OP did state he was willing to and did pay already for said auction. The only reason I mentioned what I felt was the Op reason for the thread is it seemed he was taking some heat, for something that did not appear to be the case.

I will concur as to there being some slightly different views here however. Then again this is how we all grow.

Can the Op pipe in here, I mean we have to get this thread to at least One Million Pages...

I said the OP made it clear over the course of the thread. Go back an read the posts by the OP. After reading the OP's post, do you think the OP felt the seller should have agreed to meet? To me, it was clear that the answer of that question is yes.

Of course the OP paid for the auction. The OP had to in order to fulfill the terms of the auction. Lest we forget, it was the OP who wanted to change the terms after the auction ended, not the seller.

Maybe I missed part of what he said during this discussion. I felt the OP was asking if we felt how the seller handled it was appropriate or not. As someone who has had many great experiences, with exception to my own lack of knowledge, on E-Bay, I felt the seller had made a "customer-service", if that is a good word to use, error. However that whole part has been beat into the ground.

The gentleman Chris who is fairly new did mention a wonderful story that could of been the case here and I feel the seller, sold himself short.

I too had the pleasure of serving our great nation for 12 years, enlisted as well. I was an E-5 in the Army. I do humbly apologize for my mistake.

Sincere apology and a big thank you for your service to our great nation.

As far as being an old fart, my 21 y/o nephew loves to stand behind me and count my gray hairs allowed. He is 6'2 I am 5'6.

If it makes you feel better, I am commonly called "Doc" as I was a medic.

Doc,

I was in 69-71, USASA, but never left the states.

My Dad was a combat medic.

79th Division, 314th Infantry, WWII, D-Day (Omaha Beach), 5 Battle Stars, 2 Purple Hearts, 2 Bronze Stars, POW (Battle of the Bulge)

He never left the front lines from the day he landed on the beach until the day he was captured. He was one of only two men from his original company to come back alive. Dad is interred at Arlington National Cemetery. God rest his soul!

You don't have to thank me. If it wasn't for my Dad, I wouldn't be here.

I served from 92-2008, had a few breaks in service. Did 8 active 4 guard and reserve.

This makes me wonder how many others amongst us served?
