I recently got this 1946-S quarter that is nicely toned and uncirculated. When I took a closer look I noticed there is heavy horizontal lines in the fields on the obverse. At first I thought maybe it had been scratched while being cleaned but under magnification it appears that they are raised and only in the fields. I know die polishing lines are common on proofs but I haven't seen any as extreme as this on business strikes... I looked on PCGS coin facts at some other 1946-S examples and saw a couple that look as if they may have some as well but mine seem to be quite extreme. Any thoughts on what I am seeing is truly from die polishing and would it be worth sending to get graded? Thanks! Hope everybody is enjoying thier weekend!
Looks like die polish lines to me. Nice coin. I'll guess the grade at 65 or 66. I would not send it in for grading.

I picked up a 1947S two days ago. Waiting for it to be mailed out. It's in an NGC holder and was $15.00. Some people do waste their money and should be better graders before they submit anything. Mine is MS65.
