Graded by NGC as a MS-62 Proof Like a long time ago. There are scratches on the slab. Not saying the coin is clean but it’s not as bad as it appears.

Can anyone give me an idea of the age of the slab? It looks like an old one to me and I’ve had this coin for over 25 years.

Personally, I buy the coin not the slab if that makes sense.

And yes Sal thats the reasonable approach however collector love these old school slabs. I have a few that are on the bottom of any items that I would part with....I need to look but if my memory serves me I have 1 I purchased at a local shop. It has a sticker on it with price paid at a Baltimore Whitman show. And I know I paid more but not at it current price point.

Oh I bought the coin. I have it a long time, over 25 years ago. It’s just the slab looks old and I wasn’t sure how old but the NGC slabs don’t look anything like this today.

I like the coin. I agree with the grade, although PL is hard to determine from a low resolution photo. Definitely like the old fatty slabs.

I had a Morgan some time ago in an older PL slab. When I took it to our regional PL Morgan specialist at the big regional show, he said that the standards at that time for PL were less strict, and while old slabs tend to be graded conservatively by today's standards, it's the other way around for the PL designation. I could certainly see that my "old PL" Morgan wasn't as reflective or contrasty as his current PL (not DMPL) examples.

That said, I'd have no complaints about OP's coin!

In hand it shows. I just can’t pick it up with my cell camera.
