Picture on the right is the coin I purchased, left is a PCGS example. I can update tomorrow with close ups but wanted to gauge opinions beforehand.
I don't see the heavy doubling of the 2 like this Check out these pictures: http://www.varietyvista.com/03 Buffalo Nickels/1929PDDO001.htm
I can’t argue much until tomorrow but I think I see it there, the bottom portion of the 2 above the base looks fatter than it should IMO. I’ll definitely update everybody when it arrives
Im not seeing it...the 29 has good strikes for the year...the op specimen is a nice coin but not showing the doubling as the ddo should be showing.
Hey @scguy I see some close attributes but the photos are inconclusive. The only photos we have are of an early die stage. Check and photo all the other attributes - upper braid lower braid etc.
I could possibly see it with some wear. I am still waiting for @Paddy54 on this one. What about the braid and the other die markers if you can only match the date, then I say No.
On that image yes it is the ddo the other photos no way but yup winner. Like my 1934 I just got a ddr from these images you cant see it but in hand bingo That mark on the left hinde leg and that under the chin makes this a ddr believe it or not
Except for the color they look the same to me. Extra thickness in one number does not make it a doubled die.
Going to send it off to James Wiles for verification on Monday, I’ll keep everyone posted. It’s already in a PCGS slab, don’t really want to crack it out just to send it back in
There's a lot of them I don't see... look at some of John's Wexler , between John and James there's quite a few differences. Go look and compare I do on a daily basis like the 34 p buffalo I posted.
Most TPG don't attribute corectly including Anacs... as they ask is it in the CPG and to give a number. I trust John or James as far as any TPG most want a letter from John or James. Anacs is the only TPG that will label a variety as to what it is.... NGC and PCGS put very few varieties on their lables. Here's one that is completely incorrect as this isnt a minor variety with less than 15 known
Your looking at the wrong one thats why the marker is the die crack from the head through the U . Ron Pope was a good friend, miss you brother. You taught me a lot.
