Picture on the right is the coin I purchased, left is a PCGS example.

I can update tomorrow with close ups but wanted to gauge opinions beforehand. 5938AE57-F730-4D1A-918D-AB311517F486.jpeg F714AA6E-7EEF-46DD-BBFF-ABF2A5A7ADC5.jpeg

I can’t argue much until tomorrow but I think I see it there, the bottom portion of the 2 above the base looks fatter than it should IMO. I’ll definitely update everybody when it arrives CA00C60C-00ED-443A-9E56-918013F49CCF.jpeg

Im not seeing it...the 29 has good strikes for the year...the op specimen is a nice coin but not showing the doubling as the ddo should be showing.

Hey @scguy I see some close attributes but the photos are inconclusive. The only photos we have are of an early die stage.
Check and photo all the other attributes - upper braid lower braid etc.

I could possibly see it with some wear.
I am still waiting for @Paddy54 on this one.
What about the braid and the other die markers if you can only match the date, then I say No.

Except for the color they look the same to me. Extra thickness in one number does not make it a doubled die.

Unless it's attributed by a TPG, I still say it's not it.

Going to send it off to James Wiles for verification on Monday, I’ll keep everyone posted. It’s already in a PCGS slab, don’t really want to crack it out just to send it back in

Yes at times it does... there's doubled dies that 1 split serif makes it a DD.

There's a lot of them I don't see... look at some of John's Wexler , between John and James there's quite a few differences. Go look and compare I do on a daily basis like the 34 p buffalo I posted.

Most TPG don't attribute corectly including Anacs... as they ask is it in the CPG and to give a number.
I trust John or James as far as any TPG most want a letter from John or James. Anacs is the only TPG that will label a variety as to what it is.... NGC and PCGS put very few varieties on their lables. Here's one that is completely incorrect as this isnt a minor variety with less than 15 known;) s-l400-2.jpg
