Yep, 0/239 by my count. I have some random stuff I have pulled from circulation, but I don't think any of it is from Boston, but I will post them later to see if anyone wants to trade.

    0/239 I know the feeling :D

What's the grades your going for? Any parameters there?

So if do any of you guys have the color of money set or prepackaed items like that for your set? If so which I'd say you do for continuity's sake do you remove them from the holders to make the set all the same?

In my coins I usually don't do that except when it's a nice set and gonna stay a set.

    Thanks.

Highest I can afford, I am sure there are a few I will have to bite the bullet on and get something lower than unc. but the ideal would be to get them in higher unc. epq or ppq.

    Sounds like most of us.

The $1's, 2's and most 5's are not to bad. But as the denom moves up the grade gets tougher to get!!

BTW nice avatar...The Dude does Abide :thumb:

Thanks, it's one of my favorite movies :D

Yeah, for sure some of those are going to get expensive.

Does anybody have a site where you can check prices besides just the various auction sites?

Urban are you glad you pulled them and do you think they lost any value? And when I'm done with this set I'm thinking it will be worth enough to send to get a pedigree on the whole District set so I dont think it would hurt to pull them from their Original Mint Packaging?
It's good to check these things out before I do it :D
    Thanks

Not to take away from an answer by Urban on this Duke, but I approached the top 2 TPG's and PCGS will Pedigree only complete sets, not District Set's..as I told by them last year or the year before... this may or may not have changed and I would verify with them again. PMG on the other hand will certify a Pedigree on a District Set, however, will not do any cross over grading. After talking to the Mgr at PMG at the Baltimore show, he and a staff member will be coming to my home in August during the ANA show in Boston to take a look at the collection for consideration of the Pedigree and conversion over to all PMG slabs. This wll be a $2-$3K proposition by my estimation maybe more...so my advice to you all is by the notes graded in the holders in which you want the Pedigree to known in.

    For me it's PMG.

    Thanks for the heads up.
I do try to get them graded already by PCGS or PMG but have certainly have some raw ones now too.

Your journey to the Pedigree will be long underway by the time I'm even slightly ready to think about this but it's always good to plan. By August I'd like to have all the 1's and 2's done and working on 5's up but we'll see. My early commem set has gone on for 10 years now :D

Rickie in your Pedigree your doing what notes? District, Large...ect?

So another question are any of you guys also collecting by block #'s too?

    Duke:

For now it will be the 48 Large Size, The Small Size Colection and maybe the fractionals....we shall see.
It all depends on what I am told by PMG in August :D :D

NO, First step for me, I hope, is to get one of each example.

Also, how would I know how many blocks were printed for each series?

I know the uspapermoney.info site likely has this information, if needed, but is there a book published with catalog information on this or another way of knowing the range of blocks for each series in each district? I think if I had to collect all the block letters this would take significantly longer to achieve a district set and be exponentially more costly... ;)

The Schwartz & Lindquist book has this information. The Azpiazu book has more detail, but only covers $1's.

As for the website, just go to this page and click on "B" for "blocks" under whichever series you're interested in. (Or choose "C" for "complex blocks" if you want things like the Washington vs. Fort Worth printings broken out.)

    Great Numbers thanks.

Hey why don't you join the District Set's Club...you seem to have enough knowledge for sure :D

Whoa, that's a huge holder! Duke how do you feel about that becoming the new standard size holder? LOL.

Incidentally, I've had a bum week on auctions, lost two on HA and two on the bay. Three must be something really awesome down the road waiting for my dollars...
