My knowledge is so lacking in this area of numismatics. I don’t even know where to begin. So if y’all don’t mind helping identify some of these and perhaps point me in the direction of a quick reference resource that would be amazingly helpful. Thanks so much.

To get you started, (I am at work and cannot look up emperor right now).

    1. Byzantine 11th century
    2. Byzantine tremisis 6th century
    3. Bosporus Roman Provincial 2nd century, (or 3rd century)
    4. Roman Theodosius
    5. Byzantine 8th century Syracuse mint.

Where did you get ancient gold without knowing what they are?

I was in a hurry. Most of the lot were attributed incorrectly, but I was able to get a general idea of value on most of them. Seller wanted to get rid of them as part of a deal so I offered fairly low where my risk was minimal and I’m hoping for the best.

Selling off ancient gold coins is rather unusual. Do you know their provenance, are you sure they are not from a stolen collection? In other terms are you sure your risk is minimal? :bored:

I know graded ancients aren’t as popular, but here they are. I’ve learned a lot!
