Seller claims this is an ad for the ABNC from 1902. Picked it up today and look forward to seeing it up close. Will post actual pictures when it arrives. Best Regards ~ Darryl
Interesting that it says "Lithographic and type printing of all kinds", with no mention of intaglio printing. I have no idea what significance that might have, but it seems curious to me. I would have assumed ABNC notes of that vintage were intaglio printed.... and I wrong? Dave
"illuminated show cards" -- wonder what those were. Dave M: ABNC was well known for its intaglios, but they also tried marketing to low-end clientele by offering lithos of some of their vignettes. I'm always disappointed when a stock or bond I order on eBay turns out to be a litho. :crying: But by the early 1900s ABNC didn't have all the lucrative govt. contracts it used to, so they were scrambling to make a profit.
Awesome info to know, thanks. Many of the French community banknotes were produced both in litho and intaglio form. You have to keep on your toes to know which one you're buying, and inevitably the intaglio version is more expensive. Thanks Dave
Thanks, I like these old pieces as they take you back in time. It is probably taken out of a magazine but that's okay too. The seller let me know it was shipping today.
