I won a 1966 Kennedy half on ebay and never received it. I went through the motions and ebay payed me back. Didn't hurt a bit.

Should I leave a negative feedback for this dude? He only had 12 feedback points when I bought it. All his feedback remarks were for stuff he bought. Can giving a bad feedback backfire on you?

Of course, neg away. But only put the facts, Paid (date) not rec'd, filed, refunded. Getting emotional in feedback is a mistake.

Then put him on your blocked bidder list.

Did the seller communicate? Also, did he give the refund or did you HAVE to go through Ebay in order to get a refund?

I am missing some pertinent information before I can answer your question. Did you contact the seller? Was the seller cooperative? Did the seller even answer you email? If the seller was cooperative or you did not ask, then I say no. If you asked and he was uncooperative, go for it.

Your best bet here is not to leave any, It shows that you were
Not totally satisfied but didnt want to ding the guy either, FYI
Neutral feedback is just as bad as negative!!

I gave the guy a month. I tried to contact him twice, and he never got back to me. I got my money back through ebay's resolution center. Thanks for the the feedback, you guys.

Based on what I read in your OP, it sounds like he never sent the coin, and ceased, or never had any communication with you; hence why ebay had to get involved for the refund and didn't come directly from him. Because ebay typically requires a time period to pass and specific contact attempt instructions to try and resolve the issue between yourselves before paypal takes action. And when paypal cuts a check it's typically a sign that this was the last resort.

If this is the case, I would definitely leave negative feedback reflecting your experience; never received item, lack of communication, ebay had to get involved for the refund.

Part of the problem with ebay feedback is nobody leaves negative when it's warranted. I don't think it's gotten any better now that sellers can't leave anything but positive. If a seller doesn't deliver without a very good reason, I neg. I'll normally email after a week asking for shipping date and tracking number, and if I get no response in another week they get negged. If they do respond normally there's no problem, but I'll give them another week or two after that. Usually it's a family emergency that keeps them from shipping.

I don't neg or neut for slow delivery, I give 1 star on shipping time for those who didn't give me a good reason.

Absolutely I would leave a negative for that.

Let me ask one further question; Did you try to communicate with him directly through Ebay's contact form, or did you send him an email to his email address? I've had buyers send me direct emails that I either never got or they got put into my "spam" box. I think it's very important when contacting sellers or buyers that you use Ebay's contact system rather than regular email. I've never missed a message that came directly through Ebay.

Yeah, what you said AND ebay tracks all communication done through the ebay contact interface. So all communication is documented in case a claim needs to be filed. It helps paypal make a determination as to the final outcome. So always use the ebay contact interface when communicating with the buyer/seller.

I went through ebay. I played by the books and did everything I was supposed to.

I would say leave the neg then.

leaving negative feedback does have its own issues, But it does
Come back on you when you go to buy somewhere else, Some
Sellers view you as a problem buyer !!

If neut/neg isn't left when it's deserved, then the feedback system doesn't do a bit of good except to tell you how many lots someone has won/sold. If a seller is honest he shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Just left a negative feedback. Just the facts--nothing nasty.

    Thanks for all your help.

The e-bay feedback system is flawed!! The seller is at the mercy
Of the buyer, Since the seller cannot leave feedback, Its a system
    That is broke!!

Good for you. It warns prospective buyers. Don't you wish you would've seen only one sale from this seller, and no item received by the buyer? You wouldn't have bid.

I am just curious. Can you name any other place where the seller can leave a negative for a buyer? When I go to Wal-mart, they have no way of saying I am a lousy buyer. I can go to Angie's list, Yahoo, or even fill in a survey from Wal-mart and trash them up one side and down the other. They can't even find out who trashed them.
