I have an 8MP camera and I want to know how to set it up so I can take high quality pictures of coins so I can capture all of the details of the coin. How could I set it up like that?
Lots of past discussion on this subject. Way to many to try and cover here. There is a highly recommended book by Mark Goodman you can probably get from Amazon as well. On the blue bar above you will see the Search function. A quick search will give you links to all of the past discussions on coin photos. Sounds like you have a capable camers, the next question I would have would be the lense you have. Is is Macro capable?
After you figure out how to take good pics you're gonna want to upload them to this site, and invariably, you'll find that the file is too large and the picture will "post" small. A good way to compensate for the large file is a site known as photobucket. If you upload your images to that site you can re-size them there and then link the photos from that site to here. An alternative (which I have just discovered) is something that Microsoft provides under its' heading of "powertoys". If you have XP you can download their image re-sizing tool. As an alternative to that you can open the image in MS paint, hit ctrl W and then resize as you would like... for free... with a program you already have!
Quite true but I find the powertoy resizer is much easier to work with. One click and you're done....
Ill give it a shot... im super lazy so thats why I do paint... just ctrl W and a few numbers + a tab or two and im done... but one click is even more slack than that so perhaps I can spare the time to download it good looks
Once you download the application you can easily re-size any of your pics. Just right click the image, hit resize, and you get three or four options for resizing the image....Hand held (never used that option) large, medium and small. I've always selected "large" with marvelous results.
Also, some nice photo editing software is a must. Bill (PennyGuy), what was that free software that you turned me onto a week or so ago? I'm on the lap-top and don't have access to my desktop where the program resides.... OK...found it http://www.photoscape.org/
