Need a little help because I am not so versed on toning. This is a dime I recently purchased and it seems some toning is going on. Does it look like natural or artificial. Would you think this would add value or take away?
It is extremely hard to determine the originality of the toning from those photos. However, the color scheme on the reverse of orange, violet, and deep blue is a common AT result. In this case, I don't think the originality of the toning is an issue. The coin is a very common grade and date and the coin has very little numismatic value. I will tell you that I find the toning very unattractive and IMO, it can only hurt the grade and value of the coin. I think you should dip it. Coming from a toning freak, that is a severe condemnation of the toning.
