I re-roll all the coins I search. Nickels, dimes, and halves. I had been taking all of them back to my credit union but on Saturday one of the tellers told me that I could not keep bringing in all of these coins. I do have an account there and all of the coins are rolled. Should I be upset or look for another dump spot or go right back in and say I would like to deposit these in my account? Previously I had just asked to cash them in. I am of the mindset that it is not my problem and all I want to do is conduct a banking transaction but I also don't want to be cut off. Now I am torn and thinK the best option may be to pick up at one branch and drop at another branch of the same bank. It is not like I am doing that much. Maybe 1000- 1500 a week.
That's kind of alot each week for a Credit Union to handle, unless they are really big. I do maybe $500 - $1000 per branch each week and they go through a counter, so they get bagged up and sent out, tellers don't really have to deal with them much. More likely than not, they take them in rolled, break them open and send back out loose in bags of $1000. Let's say I dump $1000 at a branch, I don't go back for two weeks or so and hit up other branches. I don't want to get cut off, you know. I send out coins loose in coin lock bags and wait for my credit too. HOTN
I have not been roll hunting for a few years up until this last few weeks when I went to a local bank in search of half dollars either loose or rolled up and to my amassment the tell hands me a walker and a proof Benjamin....cool. So I ran to another bank and they had a few rolls that someone had searched and used the same wrapper to rewrap the half's but there was two rolls that was wrapped with plain white paper with $10 written on the two white paper wrapper...really didn't think much about it until I got home and found that they both was filled with 40% half's .... cool. any way off topic All TD bank around me stop allowing everybody to us the counting machines. what a bummer.
Yup, they took out the counting machines. Years ago they were sued because the machines were short counting the coins.
I roll my Quarters and Pennies and cash them in at a local business they will always take my coins. This is in the Hudson Valley in NYS. They tell me there is a coin shortage???
