    Hello Guys,
I found in my circulated coins this 1994 P Jefferson Nickel and I noticed that the steps are Full, but not only full, more than full. When I counted the lines I saw one more line. Am I right??? Or am I crazy??
    I'm in shock!!!
    Any comments are appreciated.
    Thanks
    Walter

They are all there. Some TPG’s will call it FS and others won’t due to the small marks on the steps. Nice for it’s age.

Thanks @Collecting Nut, but what I'm seeing when I enlarge the photo is one more step beyond 6. That's not possible. Or is it??

I’m only seeing six. Let others chime in as it’s difficult to tell certain things by looking at photos. Those coins always look different in hand.

You may be counting the base of monticello. Yours looks pretty close to 6FS. Looks like a small merge on 5 & 6 in the lower left-hand corner.

That was what I was seeing so glad I’m not the only one.

I will confirm: the photo shows an extra line across the base of the porch. No, it shouldn’t be there. No, I can’t explain it.

I can raise all kinds of conjecture from die deterioration to being counterfeit but I’ll wait for info from our resident nickel experts…imo…Spark

1994 p matte finish nickel mintage 167,703 that and the 97 P matte are the true keys by mintages of the series..... s-l300-2.jpg

Very under appreciated coins! These should be doubled in retail values. 97P - 25,000 pcs
These only came 1 way as part of a 3 item set.... someone didn't know that the nickel was just as valuable as the silver half . .... oh its a nickel spend it.... it's only an $85 coin - SP 69 nice find
So basically you found a one of two known matte proof nickels dates in the wild....because someone didn't know that the set was a "SPECIAL" edition.... kept the paper notes and the half dollar spent the key nickel...;) that's what I'm talkin bout......! ;) s-l300-2.png s-l300-3.jpg

Full steps 5 and 6 are easy to find in this year.
Red book gives 5 steps 1 out of 2. And 6 Steps as common.

Well, thanks to everyone for the comments, especially @Spark1951 for confirming that I'm not crazy about seeing an extra line at the base of the steps.
Hospice, you'll have to wait a little longer for me to visit you. :wacky:
