Sorry -- I've only been a member for a week and didn't notice it until now. Occupational hazard: I do a lot of proofreading at work. I'll try to avoid correcting member posts.
Oh, I'm not saying that you can't correct a members spelling, even though we do try to remember that all of us can mess up....but rather I was just saying that I though it was funny that on the 27th day of the fundraiser, someone found a mis-spelled word! LOL Speedy
I just got off the phone with Stainless and we are both thrilled with the amount of money that was raised this year. It was beyond both of our expectations. :thumb::bow::thumb: It appears that we have raised $3200!!!! Congrats everyone!:thumb::bow: We couldn't have done it without all of you. Unfortunately, this is not a confirmed amount as I still have checks coming in from people, but I am pretty sure this will be the final total. So here will be the timeline of events that are going to happen. 1. Stainless and I are in the process of double checking our lists and making sure that everything adds up. This process may take a day or two depending on our schedules. I am in the process of categorizing the donation list so that Stainless knows who to contact about the prizes. The list will be split into two categories as was discussed....those donations above $51 and those less than $51. This list may not be completed until next weekend, when I should have everyone's money in, so please bear with us.....there are around 40 people who donated compared to the 15 who donated last year. :rolling::rolling::rolling: 2. This list will then be emailed to Stainless. He has a goody chest full of prizes that he is dying to give away. He will then contact each person privately who won so that he may discuss the prizes with you. I think Stainless will post something later on about the prizes. From this list that I am sending him, he will determine who is getting a prize and who unfortunately did not qualify. There are also some members who stated that they did not want a prize so the next person in line will be chosen. 3. During that same time period as Stainless is working on that, I will be creating a list of all those who donated and their addresses so I can send them to The Shriners Organization for tax credit and recognition. I should hopefully have this done by this coming weekend. 4. After that, all we have to do is sit back and be proud of what this group has accomplished. A bunch of strangers all coming together to donate a little piece of themselves for a cause much bigger than all of us. Although not everyone will win a prize, everyone was as big a part of this fundraiser as the next person and everyone's donation counted toward our goal. If anyone has any questions about their donations, please direct them to me and if anyone has any questions about the prizes, please direct them to Stainless. Thanks again everyone for another big year!!! :high5: This will be a hard one to break next year, but each year brings new and exciting challenges that we are looking forward to breaking! :loud: Peace y'all....Go Mountaineers!
I am Very impressed with the total amount we made this year. Thank you to all who contributed! I will post later when I have everything in order. Here is how the prizes will work. for the $51 and over, there are the six bigger (more high end) prizes, and the $50 and under there are 6 lesser prizes (but still nice, including a ICG MS-66 1950-D Jefferson). Everyone else will either get a wheatie, or an UNC P/D 2010 Lincoln cent set. thanks all stainless PS: Joe...No no silly, it's GO SPARTANS!!!!
What wonderful news! Everyone really pulled together and made this an amazing year! :high5: Joe and Anthony, a huge THANK YOU goes out to you guys for all the hard work put in and yet to come as you wrap this year up. Let's all start saving for next year so we can start out with a higher starting goal and smash those figures also. :hammer: ============================= Also, as a reminder to those of us who used our signature line here to broadcast the fundraiser, let us not forget to update them.
Yeah, Speedy, sorry. LOL! We really didn't think we had a chance again your Wildcats, but they even suprised us. Personally, I am not a Mountaineer fan but rather a Herd Fan, but it is only right that I root for the home team.
Well done everyone, glad to see that you met your goal... and then the next goal... and then the next goal...
Wow , gone a week and you guys break the thermometer 2X :whistle:, Way to go CoinTalkers , and especially stainless and Joe , and everyone who helped or donated , great job guys . How about $5000 for next year .:thumb: rzage:hail::bow:
Yep great job Joe, Stainless and all those CT'ers!! Next year should be $5k but that sure sounds like alot...
Yeah...and it's extra tough for a coin collector that has to choose between a donation or another ASE! :eat:
Ladies and Gentleman....the numbers are in!!! Last week was crazy and I apologize for not getting this info out to everyone sooner. This year was nothing like last year. Last year we had 15 people who donated. This year we had 42 people who donated!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!! Way to go CT members!!!! Just to remind everyone, we raised $3200!!!! I am in the process of transferring all the money over to my bank account from paypal and then I will get a certified check from my bank and send it off to The Shriners. The time it will take me to send the money off to The Shriners, depends on how long it takes paypal to transfer the money over and how busy I am at work these next two weeks. I will be sure to let everyone know when the money is sent off. I have finalized my tax letter request list that will be sent off to the Shriners along with the certified check. It typically takes them several weeks to send a letter back, but you should get something back soon. Now onto the good stuff....The Prizes!!!!! Don't think of these as prizes, but rather a little token of our appreciation for what you have done! I will be emailing my list off to Stainless shortly. Because we are keeping everyone's names private, he will contact those of you who won prizes via PM. Some of you have told us upfront whether or not you want a prize, but if you do not want a prize when Stainless contacts you, just let him know and he will move onto the next person on the list. This will allow those members who do want a prize, an opportunity to get one. We really wish that we could get everyone something, but there are only a limited number of items that we collected. Please keep in mind that all these items were kindly donated by members on this forum and although we will not mention their names in respect to their privacy, we are very grateful for their selfless contribution. Whether you decide to stay a part of this family or move on to other things, we would just like all of you to know that you were a part of something that is larger than you can imagine. We are a large, highly diverse, extremely talented and exceptionally good looking bunch of people.....LOL! I had to throw that one in!!! But no matter where we come from or what we do or how much we make, everyone here decided to make a contribution that others less fortunate than us will benefit and that is what I call a blessing. Thank you everyone!!! Stainless will be in touch.
