I have been wanting an example of one of the Wildman types in Silver and was able to pick this one up. I can't wait to get it in hand! GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. Taler, 1720-C. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg Ludwig (George I of Great Britain). PCGS MS-62. Dav-2076; KM-114; Welter-2236. Issued following Georg's accession to the royal throne in Great Britain, this type rather unsurprisingly features the lion and unicorn supporters that the enthusiasts of British coins would recognize. Enchantingly toned, with the light reflect quite majestically off from the fields with dazzling beauty and allure.
Very nice! There was a big Wild Man sale today at SB. I sort of had my eyes on one, but it went for more that I wanted to spend. Of course, I may regret it someday, but who knows. I have a half thaler in my Prime Number set.
Nice wildman thalers! The wildman on this "Brillentaler" from Brunswick-Wolfenbuttle, 1589, of Julius, is certainly a hairy chap and I dare say it's been a while since he bathed in the local stream! Dav-9067 29 grams
