Thanks! I took the coin down so the copper core was almost showing(in some spots it does show). The skull part I went deeper so the copper shows for it.

If something has natural texture and color variations, might as well use them than create new ones. Well done

Nice, but I for one am tired of seeing skulls, so that immediately turned me off.

    That's a portrait of Neil Armstrong. ;)

Its the astronaut from Aliens. Its a test carving for a more detailed hobo carving carved into a Peace dollar with gold, copper, and titanium inlay. The other side will have an Alien from the movie.
I want to do a Neil Armstrong hobo nickel carving but it will be carved into a five ounce silver quarter.

My comment about Neil Armstrong was a joke. Cmndr. Armstrong died 10 years ago. I'm guessing today he looks similar to your carving ;)

Humor loses a lot when it has to be explained. :(

Most of the hobo nickels I do are not skull coins!. I will start posting more of those and take a 6-9 month break from posting skull coins here! :) ( Maybe longer).
I bought a tool that helps with other engravings. What is this high tech tool? Its a steel wire brush that rounds the edges of cuts on a coin. Minted coins all have rounded edges.
I am also taking classes on dvd and doing better and different sharpening of gravers- and sharpening smaller gravers.
