I was recently looking at some of my Canadian coins and i found a 2005 penny that was not attracted to my magnet, i don't have any other 2005 pennies to compare, but i was under the impression that as of 2000 they were all 94% steel. Any light upon this subject would be appreciated, thanks!

Charlton says both magnetic (copper-plated steel) and non-magnetic (copper-plated zinc) Cents were made in 2005. Zinc Cents were made 1997 through 2007. 759,658,000 were minted in 2005.

For 2005...the magnetic version has a "P" mint mark below the bust on the obverse. The non-magnetic version has no Mint mark.
