Not much of that shiny metal in this coin but it is gold. This was the first gold coin I ever bought. I was eight years old and I picked up a lot of blackberries and sold them to our neighbors riding my bike through the neighborhood to raise money to buy this coin. It was 1963 and it cost me $4.95 and I thought it was a bargain.

If I'm reading the date correctly (1866) Max didn't have long to go. :p

My first (and only) gold coin was a 1977 Krugerrand. I wish I would have kept it.

This is one of the few coins my ex didn’t steal from me. She got some good ones but I've either replaced it or went on to something else. Too bad about your Krugerrand.

I don't have any gold coins. I know about the St Gaudens double eagle and that is about it.

Slightly out of date but at least the information is there, just the prices are different, for the most part.

I can use Numismedia for pricing.

I only use it for information, not for prices. It’s a guide book. :)
