Found from circulation 2 days ago at the Post Office. My wife and I were there renewing her passport and got this from change.

Yes, it is an impaired proof, but I caught it before too much damage was done. Here is pic showing clear cut, square edge of rim that proofs utilize:

...and a pic of scuffs on Jeffs' jaw and collar. You can also see the scuff damage on the rim on both sides...

All in all, a surprise to get a proof in change, and lucky to get it before it was rendered greatly damaged. Now, if you were to hold my feet to the branding iron and force me to assign a grade, I would have to go with MS62. There doesn"t appear to be any wear on it but the scuffs from the impairment drags it lower (imo). Finally, there are about 35 varieties (doubling) for this date and MM, most of them for this date, MM and being a proof (from Brian's Nickles), this one does not show any doubling...hope everyone enjoys...Spark

Yep. Sure do like to rescue proofs from more damage.
Too bad, it wasn't a variety as well.

ps. I think you mean a grade of Pf62

Yes, of course…PF62…I so often find change from circulation that I automatically have MS on the brain…so nice to find and work with proofs…Spark

Nice circulation find and something you don’t find for quite awhile. Congrats

I'm always doing the same thing. It's almost like my brain is on autopilot in regards to grades on roll finds or pocket finds.

Probably a nickel that a postal worker found on the floor. Anyone missing a proof?
