snips you have to remember. Most people don't collect coins. Some people use coins for artsy stuff .. becz if they damage it .. they can still use it for 1 cent. coins are the easiest and cheapest thing to use as non-currency as anything. Someone probably wanted to see the inside of a zinc cent. Why not? I've done it.
take a closer look. clean it off. it certainly didn't come from the mint that way. there are a billion god-zillion + ways a coin can get damaged. or lint stuck on it.
I did… That first picture its a wood chip or something fine an thin minted in Lincoln’s vest it’s not a scratch
As all have said, it is damaged. You can wish upon a star for this to be something else and hypothesize until the cows come home, but it won't make it something it is not.
Well, you have a coin with two things going on, and both are negative. One, it is a lousy Zincoln, and two, it was PMD from someone mistreating it. Value? One cent, if you spend it before it disappears from zinc rot. Thanks for posting good photos full image. I appreciate that.
@Ball722 Easy way to tell its PMD The coin press uses a collar to maintain the diameter as the coin is struck. Notice how the rim is distorted outward. That will not occur on a strike through.
@Ball722 Worth? Just kidding. It's all circulation damage and intentional damage and no errors of any kind.
