It does. I bought one ancient a few years ago and now I own about 40 of them. Worse yet, I’m still buying them. It has slowed my purchases of US coins, which is all I’ve ever collected.
I took off on a Roman emperors collection in 2007, and by 2008 I had over a hundred different emperors and empresses before I got sacked in the Recession and had to sell everything. It was a short lived collection, but I had a LOT of fun with it and learned a lot in that brief time.
Congratulations! I believe this coin is from Trajan's coinage celebrating his conquest over Dacia. I happen to collect "Captives Coinage," and Trajan's Dacia coinage is among the most important and famous. Yours doesn't have the captives, but it does have the trophy of captured Dacian arms. All three of mine bear similar legends "COS V PP" and "SPQR OPTIMO PRINCIPI" (his favorite title, awarded by the Senate in 103 CE). This standing captive with hands bound in front is an unusual type. I'm not certain if it's unique to Trajan, or he was first to use this one, but, at the moment, I can't think of any others of quite this design:
Great coins, I still have so much to research and learn, it is nearly as enjoyable as holding these pieces of history in my hands.
