    Hi guys.
I'm almost done sorting out my Cent collection, and I'd like to share some coins I've found with Die Cracks and Plating Blisters.
    Any comments are welcome.

1990 LMC - Plating Blisters (Circular and linear) on Obverse and Reverse

Appears to be a Greased Filled Die (IMHO) IMG_Grease filled Die-Aprox-1990-Rev.jpg
This 1987 d LMC is another Plating Blister example

    Nice die cracks

On the last pic, the missing letters are due to striking weakness, not a filled die. Notice how Lincoln's shoulder is on the obverse opposite the weak letters. It takes a lot of metal to fill that area and if the press set up is a little off, the reverse letters will be weak. It's not uncommon to weakness in this area.

I thought the same, but I don't understand how this could have happened.

Sorry for have deleted the last pic. That pic refers to another one I have, but did not post that coin yet. So, I posted another example of plating blister in place of the photo i deleted.

The coin itself is zinc and there is a thin copper coating. It doesn’t take much to have it have problems and there are a number of them.

Correcta-mundo!…at 8 microns, the copper coating has little room for mistakes. Now, suppose the coating on this particular planchet was less than spec…the striking pressure could easily rupture the membrane of the copper coating…Spark

For someone living outside of the US, you sure are finding the worst examples of our minted cents. LOL

That’s because no one in this country wants those ugly cents. Lol
