Ungold golden presidential dollar...

Today at work I received a presidential dollar in from the change machine that was not like an ordinary dollar. Instead of the golden color as usual it looked like a quarter. has anyone seen this before? It was a Washington by the way. Maybe a promotional item from somewhere. It also felt lighter than the others I have. :bigeyes: will be posting pics within the hour.(waiting on gf)

That is interesting. I cant wait to see the pics and hear what everyones response is to this. I know I have never seen one like that and tried to research it a little bit but came up with nothing.

Possibly struck on a quarter planchet?

 

I know I had a Washington dollar a while back that was completely black; it looked like it was buried underground for a few years. I have no idea what happened to that thing other than they are poorly made. Anyway, it got spent.dd:

 

look at the edge, do you see any copper?


compare to a quarter's edge.

 

probably not, too much detail.
If it was on a quarter planchet, it would be too thin for that good a strike.

its not on a quarter planchet. its not reeded and has the edge lettering. it weighed 8 g:rolling:
