  1. For a limited time, when you buy the award-winning 2017 American Liberty One Ounce 225thAnniversary High-Relief Gold Coin at regular price, you will receive a companion 2018 One-Tenth Ounce American Liberty Gold Coin at no additional cost. The price for both coins together will be the same as the price for the one ounce version by itself.

Both coins were struck in 24-karat gold and feature the design that won "Gold Coin of the Year" at the International Coin of the Year awards.

There is no household limit on this special offer, but quantities are limited to in-stock inventory. So don't miss out! Offer expires on August 15 and is on a first-come, first-served basis.

They're still selling the 2017 American Liberty? Seems like they're having some trouble moving these...

I liked the Reverse design, but then I collect anything with an Eagle on it .. unless it's just too expensive.

It always amazed me how many people buy into the concept of buying something and getting something else for free. We all know that nothing is free but people (my wife) will go for it every time...... If they hadn't priced the piece so high to begin with, it may have sold better.

  7. Agreed that this offer is still overpriced but it amazing to see the Mint resort to this. These items must be collecting dust. TC

They’re selling a 2017 and giving away a 2018. I think this shows that the Mint is overpriced on most of their items. They’d sell them if they would just lower the price. What do they do instead? They raise the price due to inflation.

Do you have a link? I'm not seeing anything on their website. Not interested in buying but interested in reading the press release.

I bought a 2018 1/10 once eagle and at that time I paid $215. Cost of gold at the time I think was around $1,340 an ounce. Now they are giving free ones away with purchase of a full once? This is my reason that I haven't bought gold coins from the mint since. Regards.

I want to know why their advertising is of stuff that you can't get anymore. Everything is Sold Out ... and yet it's on their advertising. Even a "price drop" on a product that is Sold Out. So much for inventory control.

I bought a 1/10th as well, no regrets either as it's a great looking coin and it's 24k, that said I can see why it's a hard sell.

This was also in the catalog I received in the mail a month ago. Gold is just too expensive from the Mint to collect.

I mean at some point you just have to cut your losses and melt the remaining inventory and be done with it. At least get them graded or something. It’s been 5 years and the aftermarket price has been significantly lower for raw ones for several years now

Expensive a$$ coin for sure especially since it's a hard sell in the first place! I wonder if the US Mint is still gonna go with the original idea of making an American Liberty gold coin with a Hispanic, Native American and Asian lady liberty every couple of years? Obviously that idea is on hold, maybe forever. Below is the link! :D

So I take it that's an article from before the 2017 coins actually came out? (Pet peeve: blog posts that don't display the date they were posted.)

First paragraph yea it was before.

Might not need to listen to those predictions though when right near the end this gem of a line exists, "I suspect that views will continue to move in a positive direction when collectors see the actual coins in hand or on display at a coin show. " Lol. I dont think many would call its sales or after market performance positive

Gotta agree with you on this pet peeve, it's awful! It's a decent article but I can't make heads or tails on when it was written or where they got their information from.:(

I just got an email yesterday about this offer. It went straight to the trash/delete bin. I can do much better with pet 1933 gold coins and I get to choose.
