I was checking thur one of my 68 mint set and found one set that was toning so I open it up. this is what I found.look at the photos and tell me what you think is it a concea 1-R-1??all the letter on the rev look doubled to me.the only4 graded one I seen had the same mark above the motto that I marked in red
I see machine doubling flat shelf like images and cuts in the letters, not hub doubling sorry, not a doubled die. Fred
Stilll machine doubling, Sorry Look and examine the letters especially the N jello, notice the flat image and the shelf like appearance on that letter, and there's a cut in the letter as well striking down,on the coin, which leaves that impression of a force hitting down on the coin, and sometimes you will see the metal sticking up from the pressure of the strike MD FRED FUGIO
Jello, Very Nice example of a Type "M" reverse.:hail: I found a 1969 D not too long ago. Is that a split in the serif on the last "S" in states in picture number 3 the light is hitting it and I can't quite make it out. There is some discussion taking place in Ike land concerning double dies with machine doubling (strike doubling just what I personally call it) on them also. at this time just throwing mud on the wall and seeing what sticks(Ya Know what I mean??)
I noticed that split serif also, but all the other letters are the 'flat- shelf-like' type, so it precludes die doubling.
I may have it ck out by Wexler $5.00-$12.00 could turn in $600.00. It look 500X better in hand plus,my photos do not show all doubling is on all over the rev.photo were taken with a 3.5mp Pentax that not made for do photos of close ups.I have to put this on it to get the photo you see plus my buddy & the president of HSV coin club & owns largest coin shop between here and Nashville Tenn & Birmingham Al,thinks it maybe a 1-R-1.He right more time thank I am
