I know this isn’t a coin but a number of members don’t have access to the General forum so I put it here. Hope that’s alright with everyone. This is a picture card of retired General Ulysses S. Grant along with 10 other of his family members, from child to adult. It was taken on the front porch of the General’s home in Mt. McGregor, New York. It was taken on June 19, 1885. The General passed away on July 23, 1885, just 34 days after this picture was taken. This card is considered very rare and I’m very pleased to have and share it with you. You see, he was a cousin to my mother’s father who was born before the Civil War. My mother never met him but she used to tell me the stories her father told her as they met. I couldn’t believe this care came up for an auction that I attend and it cost $125.00 but it was worth it to have it as a piece of my family’s history. The reverse is blank except for the faded pencil writing of the day this was taken and the notation of his death 34 days later.

Not exactly, but partially correct, and all you need to do is ask me and I'll give it to you. Originally the General Discussion section was an Opt-In only section meaning members had to intentionally choose to see it. But that was in the old software version. It's not that way any longer. Now, as I understand it, everybody who registers, or has registered since the software changeover, automatically sees it. However, due to glitches that sometimes develop when changes from one software to another occur, some of the members who have been around the longest, and who never chose to see it because they didn't want to see it - well they can't see it. But that affects very few people, and only because they never wanted to see it.
