A fellow forum member posted this: http://www.cointalk.com/t99319/ First CaspersCoins this is not picking on you or that web site, it just brought up a question after reading it and is a good example. OK here we go... There are many of these smaller auction sites and I'm wondering how you can trust spending money on items on those. They usually don't have feedback or paypal protection. The coins in this case are nice coins that should bring a good price which makes it more scary to bid. So I'm just looking for insight on these as I'd like these kind of site to work and get some competition for ebay Do any of you use them? What's the dollar limit you put on them? Thanks
Duke--I buy and sell on eBid.net and you might want to check them out. Other than the obvious on-line buying warnings, the only other thing I should warn you about this site is "dump and run" sellers. EBid has a "list until sold" feature and some sellers wanting to test the waters, will list an armload of stuff and then wander off and forget all about their listings! I recommend that if you see something you want, ask a question (any question) first and then see how long it takes to get an answer. If it is in a reasonable time, then the seller is probably active and you can go ahead with your purchase. If not, steer clear and look for another seller. Other than that, I think you will like the site.
Duke, I like eBid.net as well. I've only bought from there a handful of times in the past year. I've never sold. I know mpcusa is a Seller there and he first pointed me to the site. There's not a ton of activity there but the Selling community seems decent and the operators of the site seem to care about growing successfully with all members participating. I usually do quick searches there for whatever I'm looking for on the offhand chance there will be an item I can get there instead of another auction site like eBay.
I am using a new site called coinspace. There is feedback, and I'm assuming there is paypal protection too.
I learned of ebid.com from here and like it as well.Am still waiting, waiting ,waiting, for someone to buy.But hey,it's not like I dumped and ran.I guess prices are more set there than feebay but so far not a lot of bidding action.
E-bid a great place to show your wears!! Good point Chris! E-bid is a great alternative for sellers who have had It with E-bay politics and there consistent over charging and high fees I will agree that E-bid doesnt have the traffic of the bay does but i can List what ever i want and sell what ever i want and not be charged a Dime!! Ever all,s i did is pay a one time $55 fee thats lifetime!! Its a great way to show my wears to interested parties with out having To worry about being charged every month!! Hats off to the people at E-bid.net !! If you want check them out, Here,s my store name: mpcusa
Poppa - how do I find this feature? Perhaps you could kindly post the direct link? I went to the site, but could not find... perhaps I am dense? Please kindly advise. Thanks, CheetahCats
I apologize for the mix up. I should have said "run until sold" This is an optional feature that a seller has when listing an auction. When looking at some items in the coin and banknote category, you will see the "run until sold" listed where normally a time left notation is stated. Sorry for the confusion. This is only available to sellers.
