That's an awesome note you picked up there. Your son should be very proud of what you have done for him.

You must have ESP :D :D
This August, PMG will be coming to my home to go over the collection and discuss Pedigree it. When I was in Baltimore I stopped by and spoke to them about this and invited them to my home since I do not feel comfortable taking all the notes to the Boston Show. This will include Large and Small Size, Fractionals and Obsoletes...

Thanks again everyone for the nice comments on this note, I have now set a new target, one which will surpass this note..onward thru the fog! :D

    Regards,

    Congratulations!

Yes, it is a beauty, along with the other Rainbow Note series. The $10 is a finnicky one to find (with the reverse not skewed). The Educational Series gets most of the top-tier attention, but the colors and the anti-counterfeiting scheme of the Rainbows is stunning!

(By the way, I've always favored ChCU grades - you can buy a few extra notes withg the savings under Gem.)

By the way, thanks much RickieB. for facilitating the Hessler books purchase, both nicely autographed

Gene mentioned to me that he combined the dedication to cover both books for you.
I thought that was very nice since they are a pair and should not be separated now.

You are welcome..he is an Icon in this hobby and I feel like it is a privilege to get to communicate with him as often as I do. At this point in time if any one wants any of the Hessler Books, please let me know.

With the purchase of this Fr18 I am afraid I can not sponsor part of the cost until I get caught up again...:smile :smile

We've corresponded a bit (and you did the huge Hessler favor for me). Do you want to let me know the themes, the threads the templates you are using to collect?

Mine have been primarily ChCU large-size "name notes", a few colonials/continentals/MPC/fractional, and a slug of obsoletes.

I have a technical question. Why on the insert PMG didn't type star in the end of the serial number (see both $1 and $2 bills)? I checked other sources - the same thing on all legal tenders certified by PMG. At the same time PMG prints star for FRNs - here's the first example I found http://www.cointalk.com/t93350/ .

Another question is does this star means it's a substitute notes? At that time there were all kinds of characters in the end of serial# and star was one of them.

    VRT..

No it is not a replacement note such as the FRN's we have today. The star symbol was used along with 15 other symbols simply as Serial Number ending chracters. I have searched high and low for information on the chracters and have found nothing. Take alook at most any Large Size Note and you will start to see the different ending symbols on the notes.
At one point in time in a paper money contest, a question that I asked was when the replacement note method using a star began. It was 1910 if I am not mistaken.

I am not quite sure I follow what you mean by the themes, threads and templates..please PM me if you do not mind.
