Yeah My SLQ is all set In the grade I expected so I'm semi happy. (this coin is FH without a doubt) (PS have e-mailed them asking WHY not FH will post responce if any) But this Slab picture.... Honestly the worst I've seen NGC take yet... Pure label pic with no regards for the coin itself. On the other hand the pics I paid for are outstanding... go figure... The other 4 coins in the submission are now in grading/encapsulation/photography so maybe have those done by the end of week PS had to add this pic couldn't post just that crappy slab pic lol...
The NGC picture is pretty awful. The pro picture almost makes the coin look as if it weren’t cleaned.
Do they even bother to label details coins FH? I don't remember seeing any. But I could have just never noticed since I don't look at coins in details slabs very often.
Yes they do I've seen 5-6 examples similar to mine "details" with FH designations... This is just wrong if that's the reason they give...
That's what I was thinking. I couldn't find a single example on ebay or elsewhere. I just couldn't find it stated in NGC's policy. But I assume it's there somewhere.
That’s a sweet looking coin and so much better than NGC’s photos. Maybe you should take their photos.
Well pretty much got the answer I expected... However I will say again it says nothing of the sort even in the link she sent me about the FH designation nowhere does it say that they do NOT put this specification on details coins... NGC says: Thank you for your email. In reviewing your NGC-certified coin 6468811-001, it did not meet the requirements to receive the Full Head (FH) designation as it is a Details Graded "Cleaned" coin. You may learn more about this in our Learn Grading: What Is the Full Head Designation? news article.
ANACS does give numeric grades on detail coins up to 60, where NGC and PCGS just do XF/AU/Unc Details. But I can't find any example of a details coin from ANACS with a special designation (FH, FSB, etc.). They might, but DETAILS and FSB/FH both go in the same spot on the slab, and something tells me they wouldn't put both on one coin.
I can’t recall seeing any on the newer holders, but if it was being done they’d be the ones to do it. Unless it’s something where there’s a huge value difference like a 45 P Merc for FB once it’s a details coin seems a little silly to put it on there. Even in that case you start getting into the argument of whether the details reason could have made the designation or should those be allowed to “cheapen” the straight graded ones with more of them being recognized. I get why once it’s details it’s just a grade and the reason
