This is my first 1972 DDO. I could use a little help identifying it though. I think it may be 105 or 108. I would appreciate any help and comments. And it came from a bank roll so they are still out there. And if more pics are needed I can try an get some better ones tomorrow after work.

    Fish,

I must commend you. I remember when you used to post all sorts of stuff that was either Mechanical doubling or something else not an error. I also remember this used to frustrate the tar out of you. In the last couple of days I have noticed a couple of post of yours with some nice looking doubled dies. It tells me that you are getting the hang of this... and it's nice to see. Congrats!

This person is getting it for sure and learning well.
I got to wonder was it kindness, being coddled or good direction that got him to this point???

Thanks all for the comments. I'll try and get some pics of "liberty" tonight but I'm only seeing slight on the "LIB".
I'll tell ya what Matt, it wasn't too long ago that I was "one of them". Very glad i took the time to research and learn what to actually look for and quit posting frivilous coins. It is so much more rewarding to post a coin that is a for sure error/variety and be able to know what it is.

On this note Ben, I must give alot of credit to Charles "Chuck" Daughtrey. I bumped heads with him last year and was fed up with his, (IMO at the time) "mightier than thou" attitude. It was a kick in the butt that I honestly needed. I took a couple months off of CT and searching so I could educate myself and not sound like an idiot. After my coin sabatacal it opened my eyes and put me in the correct direction. I have since thanked Chuck for putting me on the right path.
This would be a great suggestion for any and all newcomers is to take a step back...do the research wether it be BOOKS or the net. Try and find the answers before it is posted here as "what is this?" over and over again. If you have researched the coin use the search tab on CT and look for a repetion of your questionable coin. I cannot say it enough that there is a wealth of knowledge on this sight and they are here to help. It just seems to take alot out of an individual when there is repetion of the same people asking the same questions about the worthless coins. This is just MY OPINION though.
And one more note for Ben, IMO the bluntness is good and I hope it will possibly help another novice collector in the future.

I do not see the die scratch markers for 1DO-003 on the poster's coin.

Ya, Congrats.. found one like it myself recently in bank rolls except the doubling is counter-clockwise. from what I read on Coppercoins it falls into the Even #'s Variety. Also found another 1971 DDO yesterday but it has a big strike up the west side of it which smeared out the lower parts of the two " L's" in Liberty, it's alittle nicked up too.

When you guys mention he used to post alot of MD's it sort of takes me back to when I did the same thing on here. I know his pain. It is indeed a learning experience.
But it is a fun one and it sure does take alot of time.

It looks like die #3 but seeing LIBERTY would help.

    Thanks,
