    Hi
I am looking for the value of a 1936 Canadian dot penny. The dot on this penny is above the date between the 9 and 3.
    thanks,
    Brian

Your One Cent is worth one cent.

The very rare 1936 Dot should have a small dot between the 9 and 3 BELOW the date. If you have another George V Small Cent for comparison you will see the dot above the date should be flanked, left and right, by a pair of triangles or arrowheads.

I see the dot between the two arrowheads but the dot I am talking about is below this but above the date. The dot is between the 9 and the 3 in the same position it should be if it were below the date. Could it be an error coin. I will try to post a picture.

    Pic of 1936 Penny

Here is the pic of my 1936 penny. Note the dot above the date between the 9 and the 3. I had to zoom in to about 800%.

We don't need a picture it's a mute point cause he ain't got it. It's not worth one word more.

    Darn, was I blunt again?

I do not want newbies thinking they have some great and rare coin when they do not. If my replies seem blunt then so be it. No point in sugar-coating the truth, but I do try to be polite and helpful. I have yet to see an actual picture of the coin and so cannot begin to give further comment on it. OK?

How do you know he doesn't? Have you seen a picture?? Odds are he doesn't but there is a chance... Maybe there is a reason we have over 300 unregistered members on at a time and just as many lurkers... they don't want to post and get the same kind of responses... There is a difference between being blunt and being rude...

Right. We wouldn't want newbies thinking they have something valuable when they do not. However, we don't care if newbies think we're all a bunch asses and they never wish to post here again?

I've been noticing some extra "Bluntness" around the board lately... Maybe it's the pressures of tax season??? hahaha!

No, not Tax season......just people being rude.

Sometimes it is easier to tell what a coin is not than what it is. In the case of this 1936 One Cent it is not a Dot coin. That particular descriptor is reserved for a very specific and rare group of 1936 coins. What Brian Mack's coin is is still open to discussion. Without a picture I cannot begin to speculate what he has. I hope he will do us the favor of posting photo(s) in the near future.

I agree. But it would be understandable if he never showed up here again. From what I have witnessed on this site.....It will not be long before someone chimes in that the site is better off without this individual......just plain old fashioned poor attitude!!!!!

If he don't show up again that's not the forums fault, the members responding fault or the weather's fault, that's his problem 100%.
Folks he's asking about one of the rarest copper cents in history! It ain't this way or that way or the the other way, it's no way, no way he has that coin. It's not even the most remote chance imaginable that he has this coin.
He asked we gave answers. What possible type of sugar coating are you suggesting here.
Should we say, "well, golly gee friend you might have it", or gosh we want you to feel sercure and loved and we hope you have it, maybe, buddy".
Or, "you probably don't have that coin but don't take that as some kind of negative responce because we want to be kind, caring and fair and coodle you so you may feel warm and fussy, and please don't leave us".

He asked we told him the truth as we know it right now - could be right could be wrong, that's as good as it is going to get on here.
One things for certain, "he does not have that coin".

I'm sure several people told the gentleman who a couple of years ago discovered the 1943 D copper Lincoln cent the exact same thing. Someone told the owner of one of the 1913 V Nickels the same thing too... It sat undiscovered for how long?

The point is you don't know... and now none of us are going to know because some people can't be bothered to give a polite answer. Being blunt and being rude are two different things. If you want a lesson on being blunt but being polite go read every one of Doug's post. That is blunt... yet never condescending or rude.

Well thanks but I do not need a lession on being blunt or rude - I feel I got that one down very, very well, according to many on here so I've made it, I got it - and in reagrds to that 1936 Dot cent he ain't got it.

One more thing yes, I am blunt but rude is very subjective and often confused by peoples perspectives. I am blunt, I will be blunt but I'll say if you feel I'm rude that also is only your problem, not mine.

    Have a good one!
