Here is a note that I have been looking for for a long time. It is a 100 franc from French Equatorial Africa from 1957 depicting Felix Eboue. Eboue was Governor General of French Equatorial Africa during WWII. His decision to support the Free French under DeGaulle instead of the Vichy French collaborators had a significant effect on the conduct of the war in Africa. I am particularly fond of this note because of the prominence of his medals and awards all of which can be identified in the vignette.
lettow.. As you know I am not too much into World Note's (my Loss) but that is a really nice looking note. Thanks for sharing this one. :thumb: RickieB
Very nice! Another item completely new to my eye! Do you have the image of the other side as well? Looks like there may be a masted ship or something like that pictured? Congrats on your successful long time search!
Nice! I love the soft, almost pastel, colors. I thought there was a portrait too but couldn't tell through the other image. So I guess those aren't really masts on the ship but rigging for the hoists and pulleys for loading/offloading cargo.
That's a very nice note, Lettow. I like the squarish format of some of the French notes, it allows for some nice artwork. Krispy, are you looking for notes that show masted ships? I think I have some. Dave
Not particularly. I've done a lot of reading on the history of whaling in the US, Nantucket and the real story that inspired Melville to write Moby Dick so I tend to see ships quickly. But I might be interested in the note if it's got a nice design.
I've been looking for it for 4-5 years. I had seen it in lesser grades but I wanted a nice, presentable piece.
