I thought it may have possibly been a hole that had been repaired since it is on both sides of the coin. Good to know it's just lack of patina. Congratulations!
Nice coin! The dark green areas look like just thicker, dark patina that deposited on the coin. The beautiful green patina has a blend of different shades, so I think the dark spots are natural and part of the patina's formation. Here's another glossy green patina that might have been smoothed.
