I haven't had any luck with coins so I started looking at all my paper money and finally found something. I guess it's ok for a 1st find‍♀️ 20220718_155101.jpg 20220718_155153.jpg

Are star notes rare or have added value?

Didn’t take you long to get around to that one. Depends on if the serial# is real low, for one, or if they’re cool. Is yours cool? If it is, it’s worth a lot.

Fancy serial numbers could have a premium.
Cool serial numbers should have no premium. So I disagree IMHO.

This is a bit misleading. Don’t fall for the Coolness Index nonsense.

The "Coolness Index" tells you the percentage of face value your note is worth after sellers fees.

Your star note is just that, a star or replacement note. With notes, condition is everything. Yours has bent corners, numerous folds and fading which is most noticeable in Washington’s portrait.

There is no ink marks, no writing and no edge of a tellers stamp. I also see no holes, rips or tares which is good. I keep all star notes of every denomination that I receive or find. Some are circulated like yours and others are mint condition. And I have a lot of them. Best to study up on collecting paper money and star notes

Are not fancy SNs cool? What am I missing, here, outside of a semantic distinction?
What if one doesn't know about that website, is what I said still misleading? Your bone of contention is with the website, not with what I said.

The note in question is just a normal Star Note. It's not fancy nor cool :hilarious:

There are established Fancy Serial numbers and then there are "cool" numbers that aren't really fancy.

*STAR* notes are a cool find, but no real value for the most part especially ones
    in well circulated condition.

Cute kitty in your photo. I am a cat person.

Keep looking for stars, and fancy numbers, as well as old bills. You can still get 1950 and earlier notes if you are lucky.

Be patient with coins. I have best luck doing nickel box hunts, and you should be able to get some silver war nickles. Wheat cents and the occasional silver coin can still be located.

You can sometimes get uncirculated star notes, but never fold them if you get them.

Thank you. I didn't mean to fold the one I have. It was gave to me in change from a gas station and I automatically folded my change and put it in my pocket.
