Ive decided to take a break from U.S. type collecting and build up a set of ancients.

The Severan dynasty was one of great potential, but ended tragically.

    I love this portrait:

Julia Domna was of Syrian descent. Her husband, the great Emperor Septimus Severus, was of mixed Italian-Carthaginian descent. The two children, Caracalla and Geta, were great rivals. Caracalla arranged to have Geta killed and Geta's images were later destroyed as part of his damnatio memoriae.

Julia and her female relatives created the fascinating "Syrian princesses'" history and influence in Ancient Rome.

Unfortunately, the Severan dynastry became another victim of the "Third Century crisis" that threatened the early destruction of the Roman Empire.

    Gotta love Roman history.:eating:

INDALO- refers to the seller on Spanish eBay so it would be appropriate to drop it and list the coin as Gellia 1, issued by Cn. Gellius c.138 BC as you said. We saw this coin when you first won it.

The Domna is nice. That period often had small flans so getting all the legend is not to be assumed.

Yes but just received it today ......very good seller too I might add. It was some how stuck in the Spanish PO and he made sure things were taken care of.
